Goals and Objectives:
1. Understand indications for performance of transverse arteriotomy with primary closure
2. Perform proper technique of control and isolation of an artery
3. Perform proper technique for performance of transverse arteriotomy
4. Perform proper technique for performance of primary closure
a. Running technique
b. Interrrupted technique
5. Perform proper technique for unclamping, forward flushing, backbleeding and de-ariring of an artery prior to completion of the primary closure

5. Perform proper technique of patch closure
a. 1 suture-2 knot technique
b. 2 suture-4 knot technique
6. Perform proper technique for unclamping, forward flushing, backbleeding and de-ariring of an artery prior to completion of the patch closure


Longitudinal Arteriotomy with Patch Closure at surface and 4″ depth

Goals and Objectives:
1. Understand indications for performance of longitudinal arteriotomy with patch closure
2. Perform proper technique of control and isolation of an artery
3. Perform proper technique for longitudinal arteriotomy
4. Perform proper technique of creating patch
5. Perform proper technique of patch closure at surface and 4″ depth
a. 1 suture-2 knot technique
b. 2 suture-4 knot technique
6. Perform proper technique for unclamping, forward flushing, backbleeding and de-ariring of an artery prior to completion of the patch closure


End-to-Side anastomosis (medium-small, matched)

Goals and Objectives:
1. Demonstrate proper control and isolation of an artery
2. Demonstrate proper performance of a 10mm-15mm longitudinal arteriotomy
3. Demonstrate proper technique for beveling or spatulating of graft using a knife blade or scissors
4. Demonstrate proper technique for performing end-to-side anastomosis using 1-suture or 2-suture technique
5. Demonstrate proper technique in starting end-to-side anastomosis at heel using 1-suture technique
6. Demonstrate proper technique in starting end-side anastomosis at heel and toe using 2-suture technique.
7. Demonstrate proper technique for forward flushing, backbleeding and de-airing of anastomosis.


End-to-Side anastomosis (medium-small, mismatched size)

Goals and Objectives:
1. Demonstrate proper technique for performance of 7mm-10mm longitudinal arrteriotomy in 3mm diameter simulated vessel
2. Demonstrate proper techniques for beveling of a 4mm diameter simulated great saphenous vein
3. Demonstrate proper technique for performance of an end-to-end anastomosis
4. Perform end-to-end anastomosis using 1-suture or 2-suture technique
5. Demonstrate ability to perform anastomosis using 7-0 polypropylene or CV-7 PTFE suture
6. Demonstrate ability to perform end-to-end anastomosis at surface and 4′-6″ depth


7. End-to-End anastomosis (interposition graft repair)
8. End-to-End anastomosis (primary repair, matched size)
9. End-to-End anastomosis (primary repair, mismatched size)
10. Femoral artery-Femoral artery bypass
11. Abdominal aortic repair (tube graft)
12. Abdominal aortic repair (aorta-bi-iliac bypass, aorta-bi-femoral bypass)
13. Abdominal aorta-renal artery bypass
